There is one photo in his portfolio under personal work if a girl with a lot of freckles. This is an example of high contrast photography because the photo is black and white with very little gray.

The things that make it look edgy were the lighting that he used, how he edited it, and the angles that he shot from.

He doesn't just care about the fame and popularity of his photography, he tries to do something with his gift by helping the people of Haiti after the earthquake.

The portrait pictures that he takes are really good examples of edgy photography. Most of them the people aren't smiling or they are in their natural element and so it looks a lot less staged and the high contrast completes the edgy look.

ReplyDeleteThere were many things that impressed me about his photography career, but the most impressive thing that stood out to me was that he raised thousands of dollars for people who are in poverty. I think it is great for such a successful man to be helping those who are in need. Maybe the not so fortunate people looked up to him as a role model.

The most impressive thing about him as a human is he has met so many celebrities and I think it is cool that he is that much of a successful man that he is able to do that.

Some photos that I thought was a good example of edgy photography was the ones where the people who he was photographing did not look like the typical self portrait.

Some qualities that make them look edgy is the editing that he has done to them or even the scenery.

I was impressed by how Jeremy has become so popular over the years and be able to meet so many people by doing their photo shoots as well as how much he's traveled for his photography

I found examples where people aren't looking directly at the camera but doing normal activities or talking to other as if the camera wasn't there to some of the best

Qualities that made the photos look edgy where the defining lines of black and white as well as the different lighting angle and brightens in each photo
What impresses me about his carrier is that at first Jeremy started out as a painter and decided to follow his heart in photography. As a person Jeremy impresses me because there’s always something interesting going on in his world. His humanitarian projects have been featured on may shows and he is very successful. Some good examples he has of edgy photos is when he took photos on the Brittany Spears tour.

- The filters and the lighting he uses makes the photos look more edgy.

ReplyDeleteI am impressed by his ability to use photography to help people who need it. For example, his "Help-Portrait project used photographers to raise money for poverty. His project called "Voices of Haiti" also stood out to me because of the creative idea to convey people's thoughts and prayers on the pieces of rubble from the earthquake that are the reason for these thoughts and prayers.
What most impresses you about Jeremy as a human being?
I think his ability to stay so humble and down to earth most impresses me. He's met so may celebrities and been on TV shows, but he still has the ability to stay humble and give back to the people who need it most, by doing something he loves.
Which photos are good examples of edgy photography?
A good example of one of his edgy photographs was of Sofie Rovenstine.
What aesthetic qualities make them look edgy?
I think the lighting plays a major role in making them look edgy. Also the backgrounds he uses, sometimes they would be standing against a cement wall or it would just be a black background that made it look more edgy.
I completely agree, he takes photographs out of his heart but he also does it to help others but stills stays humble.

ReplyDeleteJeremy has a very successful photography career. He takes portraits of famous families/individuals and is known on an international scale. However, I love how he used his photography and fame to start a company focused on helping those who are less fortunate through photography: Help-Portrait.
What most impresses you about Jeremy as a human being?
The thing that I find most admirable about Jeremy is how he uses his skills. There are many people who are good photographers, but it is what they do with the photography and what they take pictures of that shows the true personality of the photographer. Jeremy uses his photography to bring awareness to global causes, for example his “Voices of Haiti” photo essay. People can take good portraits of famous people, but photography can also be used to show problems with society and speak for those who are less fortunate. Jeremy does the latter and I find this aspect truly admirable and respectable.
Which photos are good examples of edgy photography? What aesthetic qualities make them edgy?
The photograph from the “Uganda Poza Project” section where the man is standing in front of a brown background is a very edgy photograph. It has sharp lines in the background and the subject is standing tall with a sturdy stance. The lighting is also very edgy as it creates strong shadows along the subject that cast along the background. The other images from this section are also very edgy, along with the ones from the “Uganda” section and many from the “Haiti” section.
@Sydney Brown, I agree that he he is a very successful photographer. I think it is so cool that he has taken pictures of so many famous people.

Basically what I just said above, the fact that he cares a lot about other people says quite a bit about him as a person, he is compassionate.

To me a lot of the ones with Carrie Underwood are good example of edgy photography. They are not dark and scary but they are more intense photographs.

Most of Jeremy's photos are black and white and have light streaks that run across the subjects face. I think this create really edgy photography because the light gives a more dramatic feel to the photo.

What impresses me most about Jeremy as a person is how he uses his love of photography to try and show people what is happening in the world and to try to make a change. What impresses me most about his career is how he has accomplished so many things with his work. A lot of his portrait photos are great examples of edgy photography because the highlight and contrast certain areas very effectively. ReplyDeleteWhat most impresses me is his ability to capture emotion and portray it to the viewers. What most impresses me about Jeremy himself, he has awards for his photography along with the fact that he bring attention to certain subjects through his photography. Good examples of "edgy photography" would have to be the world tour and apple watch albums of his blog. Aesthetics which make his photos look so edgy include, lighting, camera angles, edits of light throw the photos, and ,again, his ability to capture emotion.

The photos he took when he was in Iceland and his portraits are good examples.

I was impressed by his travel experience and how he captured all of it so differently through the photos he took. His photos are all so unique but all with amazing qualities. He uses light as his main muse in the photos he takes and he has mastered how to use it so widely and differently in all his images.

He's married and has 4 kids, two who are adopted from Haiti, and he continues to do photography. Also he's founded a hotel.

The intense lighting and natural (not posed) look create that feeling and make it feel like it belongs. In the travel category the picture of the man standing with a staff in front of a grayish and cloudy background is a good example of edgy photography.

A good example is some of the people he took photos of in Africa, he was able to capture their emotion then chose high contrast to emphasize that emotion with the persons facial expression.
What aesthetic qualities make them look edgy?
They look edgy because even though the people are looking straight into his camera in his photos. Using high contrast with the light source or using the persons hair to help block part of the face gives it that edgy aspect.
I agree with how cool it was that he started from little experience in the photography business and build off of that! It's inspiring and empowering to know that you can sometimes create an amazing career off of a tiny foundation.

- The way he puts forth his priorities and family before all else is amazing. He gives back to the community, he has created so much that is so influential to the photography world. He created a photography movement, he created an online teaching platform, and all of that is really cool.

- The photo of the girl wearing a big black hat and sunglasses that have a light reflection. That photo is edgy due to the colors and the pose of the girl. Another example is the full body of the man with a mohawk, his pose and clothing creates this edgy look.
