Elements in the photograph that he thought would make it bad actually made it better in the end. He broke some rules and liked the end result.
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
He learned to experiment with elements of the photograph and to not assume anything about a photo before he takes it.
How could you apply this information to your own photography?
I could keep shooting even after I have met my goals to try to find other good shots. I could also break some photographic rules occasionally.

It was more dramatic and truly captured the essence of what the photographer was feeling at the time.
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
To try new things and be spontanious and to not stop taking pictures after you get what you planned as you might find something even better.

I can continually try new perspectives and even when it looks like it won't work out, to try it anyways because it might surprise me.

  3. Why was the accidental photo more successful?
The reason why this accidental photo was more successful in my opinion was for the very fact that it was taken on a little bit of higher ground and was facing the sun which made the photo look stunning.
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
Something that this photographer learned through this experience is that taking photos just for the heck of is a good idea because you may get a great looking photo like he did.

He experimented with the lighting and angle and got a picture that he loved.
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
That experimenting is good and that sometimes shooting directly into the light and trying out a new angle will give you a better photograph and that he should experiment more.
How could you apply this information to your own photography?
Be daring and try out different angles and lighting situations and see what happens when I do that because it might just surprise me.

  7. This accidental photo was better because the lighting was way better, because it was taken with the sun in front of the camera, rather than behind him. Also because it had a better angle, because it was from a higher ground.
The photographer learned that some times you have to try new things, and experiment, with different techniques.
You could apply this to your photography by trying new things, and experimenting.

  8. Why was the accidental photo more successful?

The accidental photo was more successful because the overall lighting and setting of the photograph was much better. The photograph also captured everything the photographer wanted mood, setting, etc.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?

The photographer learned that you have to experiment more than once to try get the shot you're trying to get. If it doesn't work the first time try different angles and settings to get the image you want.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?

I could apply this to my own photography by experimenting when I take my photographs instead of just trying for once exact photograph which might be difficult to acquire.

  9. Why was the accidental photo more successful?
    - I believe the accidental photo was more successful because it was able to capture a mood that couldn't be planned. The elements of a photo that made it so incredible came with the nature of it, not something forced.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?
    - He learned that to be able to progress and learn to become better, you must keep and learn from the shots not ment to be. To get the image you want, you must try different ways to have a perspective.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?

  10. Why was the accidental photo more successful?

The accidental photo was more successful because when the sun was just rising over the mountains it gave the photograph the perfect lighting in which to take the photo. It set a different mood rather than the other photograph where the lighting was boring and it didn't show any mood.

What did the photographer learn from the experience?

The photographer learned that he needed to experiment different techniques in order to take a good photograph. He said that he learned that he needed to experiment different angles.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?

I can try different angles like this photographer did. I can also try different techniques and try to see things differently so that my photographs will look more interesting rather than the same photo over and over again.

    - The accidental photo was more successful because it was taken from the perfect angle as well as the right lighting. It had captured the mood and drama while the first picture was kind of boring.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?
    - The photographer learned that to experiment and persevere. If he would have put away the camera equipment like he was planning on doing, he wouldn't have gotten the shot.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?

  12. Why was the accidental photo more successful?
Because it was random and unplanned and rule breaking. It was new, fresh, and not something most people would have done. It captured the scene in such a raw way that it was beautiful and that is what makes it successful.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?
That breaking the rules isn't always bad and that the best art can sometimes come from the most random places.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?
I could apply this to my own photography because I need to loosen up on what I try to accomplish when shooting. Some of my best images have come from me not thinking. From this blog I learned that it's okay to let loose and break the rules and that organic is good.

@Anne Linford I agree with how the accidental photo was better than the other one because the lighting was so drastically different, good job!

It was more successful because he wasn't thinking too hard about it. It was an unplanned photo and that is what made it successful. It was a different point of view, and not many people would have captured it.
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
The photographer learned that it was okay to take some random photos because art can come from those type of photos, and you don't always have to follow protocol when taking photos.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?
The photographer learned to always try every angle, even if you are taking a picture right into the sun. The pictures that are experiments could very well turn out to be better than your planned pictures.
How could you apply this information to your own photography?

It was more successful because nothing in it was planned, it happened as it happened. When a Photo like this happens, nature is giving you everything at a natural time and you aren't forcing yourself onto the land to try and get a beautiful image.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?

He learned that taking one photo as planned may not always get the best results. Some times getting different angles at different times will make the image more unique to the viewer

The accidental photo more successful because it created a very dramatic mood within the scene. The photo also had a lot of natural highlights created by the sun. There were a lot of natural lines created with the mountain range.

What did the photographer learn from that experience?
I believe that the photographer learned that a photographer can never plan out their best shot. The best shot for the assignment may be the one that you thought would look horrible but tried anyways. This is a great example of why photographers should constantly take images: you never know when you'll get an awesome image.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?
I have already applied this many times in photography. I am constantly taking images to the point to where I have to sort out through over a thousand images each day I take pictures. I experienced a similar situation in Photo 1 when I was taking pictures for my "Things" assignment. I took a picture of an overturned metal bowl and the result was awesome. There were a lot of shadows due to the multiple light sources and created a mysterious mood with a purple tint. Originally, I thought the picture would never turn out cool, but in the end it became the best image of the semester.

How could you apply this information to your own photography?
Instead of restraining myself from taking pictures of odd things that may not seem ideal at the time, I should embrace it and go along with it, even if it wasn't my original plan. Straying away from my original plans may give me a beautiful result, just as it did for him.

  45. Why was the accidental photo more successful?
-The photographer just went with what felt right, and experimented with different ideas and thoughts. It demonstrated that not having a photo planned step by step can actually lead to beautiful photographs
What did the photographer learn from that experience?
-The photographer learned that it can be ok to go bold and be confident in your ability to produce great photos with just your imagination. Having a plan doesn't always mean your photo will turn out amazing. Sometimes taking a photo on a limb works better .
How could you apply this information to your own photography?
-It made me realize that it is ok to be creative, and that sometimes something that looks right in that moment should be photographed, instead of waiting for the time in which you planned to take a photo. Spontaneity can be a great thing.
